This smoothie is a go-to meal at our house. It is quick and easy to make and packed with nutrition. We all love it, even the kids! We make this smoothie most days of the week for breakfast. And occasionally I make it for a quick lunch before heading off to the hospital to work. It fuels me for the next 6-8 hours or whenever I get a chance to take my dinner break.
The key to making a smoothie with an appealing texture, especially when greens are added, is the blender. It is important to have one that can handle the cellular membranes of the greens. The blender that we love and that I talk about in the video is listed in my Amazon Store.

FRUIT & HEMP GREEN SMOOTHIE
- 1/2 to 1 ripe banana
- 2 scoops of hemp protein powder
- blueberries, frozen or fresh
- strawberries, frozen or fresh
- baby spinach or kale
- chocolate almond milk
- unsweetened almond milk
Add the banana and protein powder to the blender cup. This should fill up about 1/3 of the cup space. For the next 1/3 of the cup space, add the fruit. Make the fruit be about 2/3 blueberries and 1/3 strawberries. Now your blender cup should be about 2/3 full. Pack in a couple handfuls of baby spinach or kale (removed from the stalk).
Next, add the liquid. Fill to the max fill line on the blender cup, using a mixture of chocolate almond milk and unsweetened almond milk. Have 1/3 of your liquid be the chocolate almond milk and about 2/3 of your liquid be unsweetened almond milk.
This is not an exact recipe by any means. Just eyeball the proportions I refer to. You really can’t mess it up.
Add the blender blades and twist on the lid. Pulse the mixture a few times then blends for about 20-30 seconds. Pour into a tall glass, add a straw and drink up to your good health!
VARIATIONS:
BERRIES, PB & HEMP SMOOTHIE
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop of hemp protein powder
- 1 big spoonful of all natural peanut butter
- frozen blueberries
- frozen strawberries
- chocolate almond milk
- unsweetened almond milk
Use the same directions as above, except use 1/2 and 1/2 of the chocolate almond milk and unsweetened almond milk. Chocolatey and peanutty! Yum!!
TROPICAL FRUIT & HEMP SMOOTHIE
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop of hemp protein powder
- 1 container of plain greek yogurt (4-6 oz.)
- frozen tropical fruit mix (pineapple, mango, and kiwi, or something similar)
- frozen strawberries
- unsweetened almond milk
Use the same directions as above, except use 2/3 of the tropical fruit mix and 1/3 of the strawberries and use all unsweetened almond milk.
This smoothie is thicker and more like an icy milkshake. So refreshing and tasty!
MIGHTY BERRY SMOOTHIE
- 1 banana
- 2 scoops of hemp protein powder
- combination of frozen berries- strawberries, blueberries, cherries, black raspberries and red raspberries
- unsweetened almond milk
Blend until smooth and enjoy!
